Welcome Letter

Spring 2004

Dear Online Student,

Welcome to Business Law Online.  I hope you  find this course interesting and use this as an opportunity to acquire another skill for your portfolio.  Because of the nature of this course, it is important that we respect and honor your views as well as the views of your peers.  

Read this letter carefully. 

There is no required on-campus orientation; however, orientation is scheduled the evening of January 21, 2004, if you have any general questions about online classes or Blackboard.  Please check for specific times at www.pgcconline.com. Participation is recommended.  All orientation materials are on the Internet. The only required trips to campus are to purchase your  textbook package and to take the Midterm and the Final Exam.  If  you have any questions or  problems, please send me an email at beattysm@pgcc.eduYour first stop should be at my home page:  http://academic.pgcc.edu/~sbeatty

To get orientation materials and other relevant course information, from my home page, click on the either the BUS 122 or the BUS 124 button.   

You should begin by reading the "Syllabus" and "Survival Tips" pages.

Course Materials

You will be able to access course materials beginning January 21, 2004.
The URL for this course is:  http://pgcconline.blackboard.com
You will need a Username and Password to "Log In."

Plan to login to Blackboard at least two to three times a week to stay up to date and to complete the tasks assigned.

Username:
Your first initial and your last name, all in lower case letters.
For example, if your name were Jane Lawrence, your user name would be:     jlawrence

Password:   Your Social Security number (no spaces and no hyphens)
For example, if your social security number is 123-45-6789, then your initial
password is 123456789
 

Note:
You can change your password after you logon. Click on "Personal Information" in the Tools frame and then click on "Change Password."


    E-Mail Policy

    Please use the following guidelines when sending e-mail to me.

      1.  In the subject area, enter Course Title and the section such as (BUS 122 section 9475) and clearly identify the subject of your email.

       2. I will check my e-mail every other day (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday).

       3.  Only  send me email about issues or questions that are of a personal nature.  Questions or concerns about the course or the subject matter must be directed to the "Open" discussion board found in "Discussion Boards".

      Please update your personal information to include an email address that you would like course-related message sent to.
