Course Description

A study of the oceans as part of Earth Systems Science that focuses on the physical sciences -- marine physics, chemistry, and geology. Selected aspects of marine biology are included, especially related to the coastal oceans -- Chesapeake Bay and Ocean City, MD. Topics include ocean waves, currents, tides, beach erosion, marine pollution and the role of technology in data acquisition. Computer-related activities are provided. (3 credits)
