Orientation Letter

Dear OnLine Students,
I hope you find the course interesting and stimulating.
Read this letter carefully.
Attendance at the orientation session is not required because all orientation materials are on the Internet; however I will be there if you have any questions The only required trips to campus are to purchase your textbook package and to take the final exam. You will take the final exam at the testing center on your own campus. Your campus bookstore should have the textbook for this course, but if it does not, you may purchase the textbook online. Instructions for purchasing the textbook online are given on the "Required Materials" page.

To logon to the Blackboard system, follow the procedures listed below.
1. Go to Prince George's Community College's Blackboard site at:
http://pgcconline.blackboard.com
2. Click on the button labeled Login:

3. You will see a dialogue box that asks you to enter your username
and password.
Username:
The first letter of your first name, the first three letters of your last
name, and your birth month expressed as two digits and your birth
day expressed as two digits.. Use only lowercase to enter your
username. Use NO spaces.For example, if your name were Jane Lawrence and your birthday
were April 8 (month 04 and day 08), your user name would be:
jlaw0408Password: Your password is your full social security number
with no spaces and no hyphens. For example, if your social
security number were
123 45 6789, your password would be 123456789.Note: You can change your password after you logon. To change your
password, after you logon, click on "Personal Information" in the Tools
frame and then click on "Change Password."
4. Write down your username and password information so you can refer to it
if you forget.5. Very important! You will have only one username and one password for
Blackboard 6 regardless of how many Blackboard courses you are taking.
If your login is successful, you will see the Blackboard Welcome
screen and and links to your courses will listed in the
box labeled "My Courses."

E-Mail PolicyPlease use the following guidelines when sending e-mail to me.
1. In the subject area, enter MCCT CJT and clearly identify the topic of your
e-mail:

C. MCCT CJT: Homework Assignment _______2. I typically check e-mail two times per day. If I am going to be out of
town with no Internet access, I will post that information in the
Announcements area.3. If your question requires a lengthy explanation/response from me, I will
respond within twenty four hours. If your e-mail is a quick question or
comment, I will respond as soon as I read it.
