Computers, 4th Edition
Author: Peter Norton
Publisher: Glencoe/McGraw-Hill 2003
This may sound ridiculous, but from my experience it is worth saying: You must have a computer in good working condition. If you are having any problems with your computer have it repaired before starting this course. If your computer is not working you are, from an online perspective, absent from class.
You must be connected to the Internet and have the browser Internet Explorer (Version 6 of Internet Explorer is recommended and can be downloaded from Windows Update)
SimNet Release 3 PageOut Edition is the software that will allow you to practice using Microsoft Office applications without actually having them installed on your computer. The SimNet software is included with your text book. In order to load and use SimNet you must have the following System Requirements:
1- Windows XP Professional or Home edition.
2- Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher (included on CD)
3- Windows Media Player 7.1 or higher (included on CD)
4- Pentium II or higher with minimum 300 MHz processor
5- Minimum 64 MB RAM (If you have Windows XP you will need at least 128 MB RAM)
6- CD-ROM drive
7- Internet connection
8- Sound card and speakers
Because this course is on-line, you must have the following basic computer skills to be successful:
1- You must be familiar with a Windows.
2- You must know how to logon and use the Internet.
3- You must know how to send and receive email messages.
4- You must know how to send and receive email attachments.
