Course FAQs (Frequently Asked QUESTIONS)

Students in this course frequently ask the following questions.

  1. How much time will this course take?

In general, the college recommends that for each class hour (45 hours), there should be 2 hours per week of homework.  With this guide in mind, I planned for you to spend approximately 6-9 hours each week preparing for CJT 151.  You must have time -- or make time -- for this class if you intend to do well in it.
  2. How important is it to keep up with the rest of the class?

You are enrolled in a course that addresses different concepts each week, some of which can be very difficult.  If you fall behind, you will not communicate well with your classmates or me.  Furthermore, you will experience extreme frustration as you find the deadlines bearing down on you.  Remember that I lower grades on any requirement by 10% (a full letter grade) if it is submitted late.  If you do not complete a requirement, you do not pass the course.
  3. What if I can't make a deadline?

Do not fall behind.  Schedule certain hours every week for the coursework so that you have each week’s assignments completed on time.   I am flexible only in extreme emergency situations.  If one occurs, contact me immediately so that we can arrive at some mutually agreeable course of action.  A grade of "Incomplete" is not an option in 99% of the cases.
