Course FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Student in this course frequently ask the following questions.
- How much time will this course take?
In general, the college recommends that for each class
hour (45 hours) there should be 2 hours per week of homework. With this
guide in mind, I planned for 2-3 hours per week for each credit hour --
approximately 6-9 hours each week. You must have time -- or make time -- for
this class. If it becomes clear that assignments are taking longer, tell me
immediately and I will consider alternatives.
- How important is it to keep up with the rest of the
class?
You are enrolled in a course that builds as it goes. Concepts learned in
one chapter are combined with concepts in subsequent chapters as the course
unfolds. For example , if you fall behind or don’t learn the
concepts in chapter 9, you will have difficulty with chapters 10 and 12.
- What if I can't make a deadline?
Do not get behind. Have each week’s assignments completed on time.
Although, you will find that I am flexible in giving you some additional
time here and there when necessary, there can come a point when you
are so far behind that you cannot catch up. A grade of
"Incomplete" is not an option in 99 percent of the cases.
Occasionally, it may be necessary for you to ask for an extension.
Usually I will ONLY consider an extension if you request it at least 24
hours in advance. In the case of serious and unanticipated
emergencies, I will consider an extension if you can document the
situation.
