The Phage Group

1917 - Canadian Felix d'Herelle discovered the
          bacteriophage.

1945 - German Max Delbrück (left) organized a phage course at Cold Spring Harbor, New York to teach methods for studying viruses developed by himself, Italian Salvador Luria, and American Alfred Hershey while discovering the "one-step" replicative cycle of the bacteriophage.  The course would continue to be taught for 26 years.
