The Scientific Method

1.  Observation
2.  Question
3.  Hypothesis - a testable explanation of what has
                          been observed.
4.  Experimentation
5.  Analysis
6.  Conclusion(s)

Two approaches to the scientific method:

A. Induction - facts accumulated first; hypothesis
                       developed next, generally inherent
                       to the statistical analyses performed.

B. Deduction - hypothesis developed first, then tested
                        by experiment.

Either approach is valid, though most modern experimental science uses induction.
