Dear Statistics Student,

Welcome to Statistics on the Web.  I hope you  find this course interesting and use this as an opportunity to acquire another skill for your portfolio.  Because of the nature of this course, it is important that you respect and honor the views of your classmates. Because this course is not meeting face-to-face, you may find that it requires more of your effort than a traditional setting.  

Read this letter carefully.

This course runs from August 26th - December 11, 2002.

There is no required on-campus orientation; however, orientation is scheduled the evening of Thursday, August 22nd.  Please check for specific times in mid-August. Participation is strongly recommended.  Trips to campus are necessary, initially, to purchase your textbook and later take announced tests and final.  These tests will be taken in the Campus Assessment Center, Accokeek 201.  If  you have any questions or  problems, please feel free to call me (301-322-0448) or send me an email at weinbejx@pgcc.edu.  If you are reading this on-line, you have already found my web page.  If not, your first stop should be at my web page:  http://academic.pgcc.edu/~jweinber .

Your first initial and the first 3 letters of your last name, all in lower case letters, then the 2 digits of your birth month, followed by the 2 digits of your birth date. 
For example, if your name were Jane Lawrence and your birthday March, your user name would be:     jlaw0307

Password:                                                                                                         Your Social Security number (no spaces and no hyphens).                                       For example, if your social security number is 123-45-6789, then your initial
password is 123456789

Please change your password to something that you will easily remember after you logon. To do this, click on "Personal Information" in the Tools frame and then click on "Change Password."

Blackboard 5.5:
Our web course management system will be Blackboard 5.5. Although you cannot access the course materials site until August 26th, you can access information about Blackboard 5.5 and take a self-guided, self-paced tour:
