HST 133. Early Modern History: Renaissance to 1815.
Western civilization from the Renaissance through the French Revolution.

HST 135. Later Modern History: 1815 to Present.
Western Civilization from the French Revolution to the present.

HST 137. The World in the Twentieth Century.
A comparative survey of the major developments in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas during the past century which have led to the formation of the contemporary world.

HST 141. History of the United States I.
American history from the colonial period through the Civil War.

HST 143. History of the United States II.
American history from the Civil War to the present.

HST 207. History of Great Britain.
British history from the Tudors to the present with an overview of medieval England.

HST 210. History of Women in America.
An introduction to the study of American women from the colonial times to the present.

HST 211. History of Russia and the Soviet Union.
Tsarist Russia from 1825, the Revolution of 1917, the Soviet regime, and the former Soviet republics from 1991 to the present.

HST 223. History of Latin America.
Latin American history from independence to the present, with an overview of the colonial period.

HST 231. History of American Foreign Policy.
Foreign policy of the U.S. from 1775 to the present. America as a world power in the 20th century.

HST 233. History of the American Civil War.
The American Civil War and its origins, emphasizing the major military campaigns and the impact of the war on American society and culture.

HST 235. History of Maryland.
The political, economic, social, and cultural history of Maryland from the colonial era to the present.

HST 236. History of Nazi Germany.
Hitler's ideology, the rise of the National Socialist movement, the Nazi regime, World War II, and the Holocaust.

HST 237. History of the Vietnam War.
The conflict in Indochina from 1945 to 1975, emphasizing American involvement and its impact.

HST 238. The History of Prince George's County.
The socio-cultural and political history of the county from its inception in the 1600s to the present.  Emphasis from the Civil War forward.

HST 245. African American History.
History of African Americans from their arrival in the new world to the present.

HST 247. African History.
Survey of African history from early cultures through European colonialism to modern African nationhood.

HST 248. History of South Africa.
The study of South Africa from earliest times to the formation in 1994 of the post-apartheid government of Nelson Mandela. Topics include: Restructuring of the African, pre-colonial peoples and societies, the arrival of European settlers, and the colonial period to post-apartheid.

HST 297. Historic Sites Internship Experience.
Unpaid, supervised experience at historic sites in the state of  Maryland.   Provides and opportunity to assist in the creation of a project, bibliography, or exhibit that expresses major themes in American history.  Prerequisite: HST 141 or HST 143 or HST 245
