There are also several important roles for cooperative group members. Different students may take on these and other roles at various times:
Thinker: Each group member must be a generator of new ideas.
Supporter: To help ensure that ideas keep flowing, it is important to have group members acting as supporters - say such things as "That's a good idea!"
Questioner: To ensure that ideas are looked at carefully, it is important for group members say things like, "Yes, that's a good idea, but what about a case in which ...?"
Unifier: One of the more difficult roles group members must play is that of unifier, one who combines or synthesizes the ideas presented by group members into a unified approach to a problem.
