NEWS
- PHY 103 has concluded. I hope you enjoyed the class; I certainly enjoyed having you all
as my students. I hope you'll keep in touch, and will continue on to take General
Physics II and III.
- Several of you were curious about problem 29 on the final exam: solve Kepler's equation for
M when E=120° and e = 0.25. Remember that Kepler's
equation (M = E - e sin E) is only valid when the angles are in radians.
To find M, first convert E to radians, and set your calculator in radians
mode. Then solve for M in radians and convert it to degrees. The correct answer is
M = 107°.6.
- Grades will be mailed out on December 20.
- The handouts from the last day of class are available here:
- Have a nice break, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
