Course Description
Addresses basic information about essential nutrients and
their functions in the body as well as established and
theoretical relationships between long-term diets and
development of chronic diseases. Other topics include current issues in food safety, weight management, and
the impact of nutritional status on athletic performance. Formerly BIO 115. Prerequisite: Reading
proficiency.
Offered in both face-to-face and online formats, in 15-, 12-, 10-, and 5-week schedules. Honors section offered in spring semesters. Satisfies General Education science elective requirement for graduation and transfer. 3 credits.
