What is a Compound Document?
It is a document that contains data and objects from multiple applications.
What type of Applications?
Applications such as Microsoft ClipArt, Insert Symbol Command, and Microsoft WordArt.
Image on the left is an example of a Compound Document.
Objective # 2 Microsoft ClipArt Gallery

 

What is the Microsoft ClipArt Gallery?
ClipArt is a gallery that contains pictures, sound files and motion clips.
Where is it found?
It can be accessed from any program in Microsoft Office.  
How is it used?
It can be used to elaborate documents by adding pictures, sound files, and motion clips
Objective # 3 How to open and use ClipArt Gallery

 

Steps for using Insert Picture Command:
1. Click on Insert on the the Menu Bar
2. Then go to Picture on the pull-down menu
3. When second menu shows click on ClipArt
4. ClipArt Dialog Box pops up
5. User decides what he/she needs either picture, sound file, or motion clips
Steps for using Insert Object Command:
1. Click on Insert on the Menu Bar
2. Then go to Object on the pull-down menu
3. When Insert Object Dialog Box pops up, click on Microsoft ClipArt Gallery under Object Type
4. Then Click "Ok"
5. User decides what he/she needs either picture, sound file, or motion clips
Objective # 4 How to Format a picture 
 

 

What is Formatting?
It is a way for the user to crop (cut out part of) the picture if need and/or manipulate the picture in various ways, 
Two ways to format a picture:
1. Picture Toolbar, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the image and selecting picture toolbar. (image on top left)
2. Format Picture Command, which can be accessed by right-clicking on image and selecting format picture command. (image on top right)
Sizing-Handles?
Sizing Handles on the picture allows one to change the size of the picture that is in one's document.
Objective # 5 Insert Symbol Command

 

When do we use the Insert Symbol Command?
If the user wants to use typographic symbols in his/her document.
How do we access this command?
1. Click on the Insert Button on the Menu Bar
2. Then on the pull-down menu, click on Symbol
3. Next select desired symbol/character
4. Click Insert
