According to the Department of Labor, the number of jobs for automotive service technicians and mechanics will increase by 14 percent between 2006 and 2016. This translates into 110,000 new jobs in addition to job openings created by retiring technicians.

 

Drive your career to new heights by earning a continuing education certificate for each automotive technology course completed. These courses provide the basic knowledge and skills to start a rewarding career as an entry-level, service technician in the high-demand Automotive Service and Repair Industry. Courses focus on ASE certification content areas and are designed for both beginners and advanced knowledge students. Take any or all of the courses offered. They do not have to completed in any particular order.

· Basic Theory (10 sessions)

· Engine Performance (5 sessions)

· Brake Systems (6 sessions)

· Electrical Systems (6 sessions)

· Auto Body Collision and Repair (10 sessions)

· Heating and Air Conditioning (8 sessions)

 

 

 

Basic Vehicle Maintenance

Also offered is a course in basic vehicle maintenance for individuals interested in learning how to maintain their personal vehicle for safe and trouble-free driving . More info.

Do I need to be certified?

Although certification is voluntary, most service & repair facilities and car dealerships require that technicians are Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified.

 

Students interested in working in the field should consider the advantages of studying towards ASE Certification.
