Winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award in 1945, this was Tennessee Williams' first successful play. Set during the Great Depression in Missouri, it explores the troubled relationship between a fading southern belle and her painfully shy daughter, as told through the son/brother. We are challenged to consider image versus reality and the chance to escape it all. This is a wonderful example of why Tennessee Williams has become one of America's most highly regarded playwrights. |

| The Peer Leader Program is designed to assist students in the international student program. These peer leaders have successfully completed Speech 100 for non-native speakers of English, and serve as mentors in the Speech Works Lab currently located in Bladen Hall, 3rd Floor, room #323. Peer leaders aide students primarily with the Clear Speech Works computer program, but also assist them with U.S.A. speaking rules, phonics, articulation, and content subject matter. Students taking the oral communication courses for non-native speakers of English express how comfortable they feel having one of their peers assist them in the acquisition of USA Standard American English. | ||||
