Interdisciplinary
Simulation Laboratory
A simulated 3-bed critical care unit merges
state-of-the-art human patient simulators with additional computer and
video technologies to provide a realistic learning laboratory for the
health disciplines.
The simulation manikins (SimMan) can
be pre-programmed with patient scenarios requiring students to apply
critical thinking and decision making skills. The teaching and
learning experience can be digitally recorded for debriefing of student
performance at the bedside or video streamed to classrooms for peer
review. The Health Sciences Simulation Laboratory was funded by
the Carl D. Perkins Award and grants from the Maryland Association of
Community Colleges.
