3.                  Student Development  Services. 

e.         One voting member of the Collegewide Tenure Committee from among the tenured faculty will be elected for one three-year term by each of the above areas (1d.). 

f.          Prior to the beginning of each academic year, the Senate vice president will notify each Dean: 

1.         How many (if any) new three-year members of the Collegewide Promotion Committee  need to be elected by that division. 

2.         How many (if any) new three-year members of the Collegewide Tenure Committee  need to be elected by that division. 

g.         Before the end of each fall semester, the Faculty Senate will elect for one-year terms: 

1.         Two at-large alternates for the Collegewide Promotion Committee from the rank of assistant professor or higher.  

2.         Two at-large alternates for the Collegewide Tenure Committee from among the tenured faculty.  

h.         Disqualification.  If any member of either committee feels unable to render a fair decision regarding an applicant, then that member  must disqualify himself or herself from the committee proceedings while that application is being considered. 

2          Internal Procedures 

a          Only those materials in the faculty memberís promotion (tenure) portfolio and  promotion (tenure) folder can be considered during committee deliberations.  Incomplete applications will be remanded and will not be considered. 

b          Each committee member will carefully review all of the applications for promotion (tenure).  After the promotion (tenure) portfolios and  promotion (tenure) folders have been studied, any committee member may request additional information,  provided that it can be obtained within the deadline requirements for promotion (tenure) decisions. There will be no hearings. 

3          Recommendations 

After evaluating all applications, each committee will send its written recommendations for or against the promotion (tenure) of each candidate to the appropriate vice presidents and to the college president.  Each applicant whose
