Grammar Brush-up Workshop

Sick of getting papers back that are covered with red marks? Confused about the difference between a fragment and a comma splice? We have a workshop for you. Please join us for an interactive workshop to learn how to conquer some of the most common grammar mistakes students make: fragments, comma splices, and fused sentences. This workshop is hosted by Professor Bridget Brennan from the English department

Ever feel overwhelmed by all the studying you have to do? Are you not even sure where to begin? Come get ready for midterms with a workshop that will help you strengthen your study skills and make taking tests easier.

MLA Documentation Workshop

Do you have to write a research paper this semester? Are you confused about citation? We have a workshop for you! This workshop, cosponsored by the English department, will help students learn MLA documentation style and learn about plagiarism. This is a great workshop for students who simply need a brush-up on documentation and students who are unfamiliar with MLA documentation.

NOVEMBER

Collegian Only Event: Fieldtrip to Baltimore

Come spend a Saturday exploring Charm City. The collegian centers will provide transportation, maps, and guides and to help you discover all Baltimore has to offer. This event is open to all collegians, and each collegian may bring a guest. Limited seats are available. To reserve a spot, please email Bridget Brennan at brennabh@pgcc.edu. You must reserve your seat by October 24, 2008. The bus will leave from the faculty parking lot in front of Queen Anne at 10:00 am sharp, and will return at 7:00 pm.

Open Poetry Reading

Come express your inner poet, or just come and listen to the literary talent at PGCC. Our poetry reading is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Poets will be asked to limit themselves to a maximum of three poems. To be guaranteed a spot, interested poets should RSVP to brennabh@pgcc.edu by Thursday, October 18th at the latest. A limited amount of time at the end of the reading will be available for walk-ins. Performance poetry as well as “straight” readings are welcome.

One-Act Play: Checkered Floors

Join the International Education Center and the Humanities Collegian Center for a one-act play, which is a true story of a woman in Maine who worked as an immigrant agent helping Somalis settle in large numbers in a small Maine town, while the woman copes with taking a US male attacker of hers to court for date rape.
