Jim has taught at PGCC since 1973 after teaching at a community college in New York state for 8 years. Since being at PGCC, he has taught mostly Human Anatomy and Physiology. He has also taught Human Values and Medical Ethics in the Honors Program and Medical Ethics remains one of his interests. He has facilitated seminars and workshops in several states and for several national and regional organizations. Jim is married to an R.N. who works for P.G. County Health Department and is a nurse supervisor in the department of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. They have 2 children, both married and have 4 grand children. His two favorite hobbies are tennis and photography. In fact, he runs a tennis sales and repair shop in his spare time. Jim has been active in many areas of the College as he has served as Faculty Association President, Coordinator of the Faculty Mentoring Committee as well as Coordinator of the Anatomy and Physiology courses Jim is very interested in teaching so that his students not only can memorize the information, but are able to use and apply it as well. To that end, he has developed many cooperative activities that he uses in his classes. His students really seem to like this about his classes. Jim went to college in New York state and received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from SUNY at Oneonta. He also has taken graduate courses at several universities including the University of Maryland. You can access the syllabus for Biology 205 by the following link. |
