ENT 219. Wireless LANs      3 Credits

Principles of wireless communications, protocols and standards used to build, configure, secure and troubleshoot WLANs. Covers basic and extended WLANs (BSS, IBSS and ESS). Preparation for CWNA certification. Emphasis on Cisco fully configurable hardware at the physical and data-link layers (network access). Weekly lab “hands-on” activities. This course serves as preparation for WLAN certification (CWNA).  Prerequisites: ENT 189 completed, ENT 273 recommended but not required. 2 class hrs./2 lab hrs. LAB INCLUDED IN LECTURE TIME.  Evening Course at Largo Campus.

EVALUATION OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE:
Course weighting: 

Three major Examinations: 40% of course grade
Hands-on Activities: 25%
Pop Weekly Quizzes 15%
Homework weekly assignments 5%
WLAN Design Project 10%
Class participation 5% 

Homework assignments: Complete the questions at the end of each textbook chapter (both main and supplemental textbooks). Recopy your class notes each week (organize by subject matter). Perform the reading assignments PRIOR TO the week assigned. 

Policies and Grades: All coursework is due the week it is assigned. Work submitted late will receive a 50% reduction in score (Exams 10% per week late). NO makeup of POP Quizzes or Final Exam. Work to be submitted in a professional manner (neatness counts- use a computer).
