Our Mission

The Humanities Collegian Center (HCC) of Prince George's Community College  Community College fosters the needs of students within a learning-centered institution by offering personalized mentoring/advising, discipline related activities, and career opportunities.  In collaboration with other collegian centers and the Honors program, the HCC strives to empower students with a sense of identity within their discipline while assisting with the realization of academic goals.

Membership Criteria

You are eligible to be a member of the Humanities Collegian Center if you:

  • are a student at Prince George's Community College
  • have completed 12 to 30 college credits
  • have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • are willing to participate in the Center's activities
  • are willing to assist other students

Programmatic Features

  • Mini-workshops (including portfolio development)
  • Student-led panels and forums
  • Field trips
  • Open microphone poetry readings
  • Guest lectures
  • Participation in other on-campus events such as art exhibits, music recitals, theater productions and job fairs
  • Regular meetings with a Collegian Coordinator or a designated faculty mentor
