CAREER GOALS AND JOB SERVICES |

Hall, Room 2102 The Career Center assists students at all stages of career planning, including career exploration, choice of college major, and choices of careers and career changes. The staff helps students identify career goals that utilize their skills, interests, and values. The following comprehensive personal assessment and career planning services are offered: (1) credit (CAP) and noncredit (JCL) courses on career/life planning and college success; (2) free workshops on career and life management topics; (3) career counseling and advising; (4) resource materials on occupations, national and regional job market projections, and strategies for personal and professional development; (5) computerized career guidance systems (DISCOVER and MicroSkills) for assessment and information on occupations and educational programs; (6) software for resume writing and federal job application (SF 171, OF 612); and (7) Internet access to career resources. The Career Center is a CareerNet site, part of Maryland’s one-stop career shop system.
Job Services Location: Marlboro
Hall, Room 2102 The Job Services Office provides assistance to students seeking employment. The staff offers assistance in developing effective job-hunting techniques, including interviewing skills and resume writing. Interested students may arrange for individual appointments and may participate in free workshops. The office maintains job announcements and a computerized list of currently available positions in the metropolitan area. Career Net software may be used to register for and use the Maryland Job Bank, identify education and training opportunities, and learn about eligibility for special programs to assist job seekers.
Job FairsJob fairs are scheduled twice a year. Numerous employers visit the campus throughout the year for recruitment purposes. Dates are announced by Job Services in advance. |
