Artists portray the world and their emotional response to it through their own unique vision and work. This exhibition exposes three distinctly different points of view in black and white photographs as seen through the lens of a camera. Jim Mitchell - "The World of Carnival" is an intriguing perspective of carnival life goes beyond the Ferris wheels, kids, and cotton candy to reveal the underbelly of the traveling show. Sam Frimmel - "Passages" is literal, but then again figurative, images depict pathways, ways through, and entrances which correlate to our own personal transitions or passages encountered as we journey through life. Frank Fierstein - "Dark Matters" is a series of images that explores the life of the shadow - the deeper, darker side of our personality that most of us are afraid to acknowledge and accept. "A Body of Heads" portrays symbols of people I have known both real and imagined, that continue to keep me up at night.

As far back as 30,000 years ago, humanity has been recording time. Then, an Ice Age occurred and humans found the moon's phases significant. They scratched lines and holes in bones according to the moon's phases in order to mark the change of seasons. Since then, humanity has been engrossed in concept of the duration of time and ways to measure it. How do these notions of time factor into what we find meaningful? How do artists use time to discover and uncover patterns of the human condition as related to our brief lives? The artists in this exhibition explore this human fascination with time and how artist reflect on and revel time's significance with these concerns in their creative practices.

Raul Middleman's portraits combine into large operatic allegories - perverse, confrontational, and vulgar - in which mythology and his studio on Calvert Street in Baltimore, exist in a wacky simultaneity. Gypsies, dwarfs, and nudes in boots stand by platters of fish that cohabitate on a burlesque stage which is conjured out of the floorboards of his studio; their eyes betray a look of sadness and mischief commingled. These giant narratives express his love of the pageantry of life.
