Admissions Information

The First Step

The FIRST STEP is to make sure you have researched the profession of Respiratory Therapy. MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE. Arrange a visit to a local hospital to observe a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the clinical setting. If you are not familiar with the practice of Respiratory Care, this will help you to make your decision more carefully.

Admission to the Respiratory Therapy Program is based, in part, on the timeliness of submission of your PETITIONING FORM. Remember: the petitioning form and the college application are not the same thing.

IN ORDER TO FILE A PETITION FORM YOU MUST BE ATTENDING YOUR LAST PREREQUISITE COURSE. Therefore, it is imperative that you apply to the college EARLY and begin taking your prerequisite classes. If you have credits from another post-secondary institution, you must contact that institution and request official transcripts. The transcripts must be sent to the Admissions and Records Office (301 Largo Road, Largo, MD 20774-2199) with a Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credit.
