About Medical Coder/Billing Specialist
Upon completion of the curriculum, the graduate earns a Certificate and is eligible to take one or more of these national certifying examinations administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Office setting (CCS-P). Graduates are also eligible to take the national certifying examinations administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders to become a Certified Professional Coder (CPC-apprentice) or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H apprentice).
