PSY
101 SUMMER 2007 SCHEDULE
Please be aware the
online courses require at least as much study time as face-to-face (f2f)
courses. You should plan on at least 15
hours per week of study time. That means you need to study at least 150
hours in order to complete the course.
Summer school is a shortened semester but we
cover the same amount of material. It is essential that you allot
enough study time in order to be successful. If
you are new to online or are not a strong student, it may take you
more time. I strongly recommend you limit the number of courses you
take during the summer.
Note that we cover 2 chapters in many weeks. Please be sure to read all of
the information for online students at my webpage. (academic.pgcc.edu/~dfinley).
SCHEDULE of DUE DATES SUMMER
2007
have organized the course by Learning Units. Some units cover one chapter,
some units cover 2 chapters. See the Learning Unit (click the LU link
on the navigation bar) for specific assignments due. Note that we cover 2
LUs in most weeks during the summer sessions
which is shortened. Note that the week runs from
Saturday mornings through Friday night.

now for time to take this exam. Makeups
for this component of the grading will be at the discretion of the
instructor and will be very difficult to obtain. Additionally, the

Late
Work
You
may submit one DB late for partial credit in the late DB area. Group DBS
have posting dates early in the week they are due. Those deadlines must be
met in order to earn full points. On term projects and longer assignments,
there is a loss of 4 points per day for late assignment submission.
Also recognize that later submissions will not receive feedback, just a
grade. There will be a makeup quiz at the end of the term that can
substitute for a missed quiz or low score. There are NO makeup quizzes nor
will I reopen them if you get locked out on Friday night. I will reopen them
during the week. So, take the quiz early in the week.
Midterm Exam
The midterm exam will be taken
at the Testing Center on-campus. It will only be available for two days.
Please clear time to take the exam.
Final Exam
The final exam is cumulative and is closed book. It covers materials from
the beginning of the course. It is not comprehensive, however, and a study
guide for the final will be posted by the middle of the course. It is
possible that the exam will be computerized. That means when you arrive at
your testing site, you will sign onto the course as usual and the proctor
will enter the password to access the exam. It is your responsibility
to verify the hours at the Testing Center. Be aware that the Center has
limited seats and that during busy times, you may
have to wait in line to check in. You cannot bring any materials into the
Testing Center. You will need a quarter (not just 25 cents, but a quarter)
to use the lockers. Please plan now for a time when you can take the exam.
Note that the Testing Center closes early on the first Friday of the month.
Extra Credit
There are
2 ways to earn extra credit in this class.
1) Complete the work in the Introductory Learning Unit.
2) Do ONE of the following:
a) You can do the study plans in MyPsychLab.
When you input your code into MPL, you will see the section for these. You
must take the pretest, read the chapter, take the
post-test (these are short). You then can print a personalized study plan.
You must bring these (or mail them to me at Dr. Diane Finley, Department of
Psychology, PGCC, 301 Largo Road, Marlboro 2054, Largo MD 20774) to campus
and put them in my box in M2054 by the end of week 5 and then week 10
b) You can
complete the Grade-Aid workbook. To earn the credit for this option, you
will need to bring your workbook to campus at least twice during the
semester: once by the end of week 5 and again during the last week of class.
If I am on campus, I will check it right then. If not, you will leave it in
my cubby in M2054, I will check it and return it
to you. Note that the goal here is to complete each chapter as we go along.
Thus, if I see that chapters appear to have been hastily completed right
before you turn the workbook in, you will not receive credit. You must
complete at least 75% of each chapter to earn these points
