Women's Studies

Course Descriptions

WMS courses meet for 3 class hours per week, or equivalent.


WMS 101 Introduction to Women's Studies.
An interdisciplinary approach featuring recent scholarship on women, gender, and feminist theory which critically examines assumptions about gender. Women's experiences with race, class, and gender are considered.

HST 210. History of Women in America.
An introduction to the study of American women from the colonial times to the present.

HLE 225. Health Issues for Women.
Examines a broad range of health issues that are either unique to women or of special importance to women, including eating disorders, abuse and rape, self-esteem related to appearance and reproductive technology.

PSY 210. The Psychology of Women.
A survey of women's life-span development, socialization and personality attributes, mental and physical health factors, and the ways gender influences social phenomena.
