| Vision Statement: The Department of Psychology will excel as a nationally recognized leader in undergraduate education that lays a foundation in psychological science for students to understand the biological, psychological and social basis of behavior and that prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions. The Department of Psychology shall provide opportunities for the professional development of students in the areas of science, public policy, education, and applied psychology. The Department of Psychology shall develop partnerships with research institutions, state and county government, the public schools, and community service agencies to create internships that will prepare students for careers in psychology. The Department of Psychology shall adhere to the guidelines of professional psychological organizations and shall be a leader among two-year institutions in transforming the science of psychology in the 21st century. This transformation shall include changes in curricula and pedagogy that best reflects the communities we serve as well as the nation and the world. |
