AMS 105. American Studies: Culture, Values, and Tradition.
Explores who "we" are as Americans and how "being American" has been defined in American history and culture.  How well has the American promise of liberty and justice for all been fulfilled: how racial, gender and class differences have affected that promise throughout American history; how well Americans balance their commitment to 'being American' against attachments to their culture of origin; and how business, science and technology have contributed to and impacted on American society.
